Awakening Our Innate Ability

To Heal Through Movement

Dr. Robert Kohl

If you live with chronic pain, Selfunwinding may facilitate a return to wholeness and freedom of movement without surgery or medication.

Selfunwinding is an integrative approach to changing our relationship to the body and our experience of it.

As we reenter the body in full awareness, we find an expansion of consciousness. This expansion changes how we perceive many things—including pain.

The result is a deep harmony, alignment, and an unshakable balance in the midst of our personal histories, environments, and physical symptoms.

Selfunwinding is a path for recapturing our ability to function as an integrated whole. It is not based in belief, but in recognizing and honoring direct experience.

Dr. Robert Kohl

My journey into Selfunwinding has been as twisted as my body sometimes feels.

Since the introduction to back pain in my early teens, pain has been a constant companion. It has been a lonely and difficult path that has at times dominated my life.

I have pursued many therapies along the way, both traditional and alternative. These treatments have provided some level of benefit, but no therapy has been able to address the pain and dysfunction at the root level.

Finding my own personal way into the root causes of my pain has led me to Selfunwinding.

Many facets of training and experience have contributed to my understanding, including ABD PhD in Neurobiology, Osteopathic Physician, Radiation Oncologist, longtime yoga student, and transmission to teach Zen meditation. Many of the specific tools included in the process came from Jill Wiley, John Barnes, and Jonathan Tripodi.

Selfunwinding has decreased my pain and increased my function.

It allows me to work with some of the deeply dysfunctional, tight, old, stuck aspects of this body that were previously intractable and nonresponsive to other treatments.

A natural impulse appears within the activity of Selfunwinding itself, which seeks to share this process with others on a kindred and sacred healing journey.

My intention is to share and support this process that lies dormant within us all.

Selfunwinding is the rediscovery of the body’s innate healing and self-perfection.

Selfunwinding Process

Our exploration is collaborative. We participate equally, rather than defaulting to the medical model of doctor and patient.

The scope spans from the physical to the emotional, including the individual psychological imprint, and extends to the spiritual, depending on what appears and is allowed.

Our goal is to move through the stages to a state where you have the tools, awareness, and confidence to continue your life work of unwinding...

Finding your agency in healing through movement, discovering ever greater levels of freedom, ease, and grace in this body, mind, and spirit.

Next Steps

I am available for individual sessions, group workshops, coaching, and speaking engagements.

I will also be offering Selfunwinding retreats in the future.

Please let me know how I may support your journey.
